What a difference a door makes

When you think of redesigning your work space, I’m thinking about what role the doors play in that space isnot high on your list. Let me share a secret with you, that’s a mistake!

Talk to any interior designer and they’ll tell you that it’s the detail in a room’s design that can make the refurbishment of a room something really special. By opting for a distinctive door can set the style of a room and doors can even make a strong design statement on their own. Whether it’s the front door, your office door, or the door to the conference room my advice is to take some time to consider where you want them, how you want them to look and why.

Internally, planned door placement can provide a much needed flow of movement throughout the building, you’d be surprised what difference a door can make! On their own, doors seem like a detail, but actually they are a fundamental part of any building’s design.

From a door perspective, we’re lucky to be living in the 21st century. Gone are the days when you have to choose between style or function & design and durability, or where function limits your choice. There are so many super styles and fabulous finishes that there’s no need to compromise, which is great news as a door is not something that you change very often so it’s important to get it right.

My closing tip would be to ensure that the doors you have chosen for your project are hung properly. As I have said before, the fitting of the door is critical to its performance and appearance. Whilst people don’t notice the ironmongery when it works. They certainly do when it doesn’t.
